Josh Garden is a 22 year old living both in Canberra, Australia and a small city of alternate reality which resembles the first in architecture only. At age 16 he won 2nd prize for poetry in the "Canberra Times Young Writers Competition" and laughed. A year ago he stopped laughing and resumed writing, albeit with a smile. The poem in this month's issue marks his publishing debut.

Trevor Hewett is an Englishman who lives and writes in his native Cornwall. Published widely in the UK and internationally, he had his first collection of poems - 'The Patchwork Woman' - published in 2000 and, despite the distractions of family, dog, work, garden and the looming cricket season, is preparing a second collection for publication in Autumn 2001.

R.L. Swihart: Though I am many, I'll be contented to spotlight only my quadruplicate-self which, like a nested Matryoshka doll, consists of me and the-family-within: RLS (I'm shy, so until we're more intimate the initials will do), Ania (the devoted wife), Katia (started kindergarten in September), and Nadja (quite the fledgling at 2 yrs). I read heavily. Imbibe moderately. Work when I have to (math teacher). Am hounded by all nine muses at once.

Poetry is just another word for creative writing. I have a long list of literary heroes, mostly dead guys: Samuel Beckett, Thomas Mann, Vladimir Nabokov, T.S. Eliot, Zbigniew Herbert,…
