Compassion
International Cento
Dear Grace:
How have you been? I hope all is well
in Rwanda. We don’t have a daughter,
so we enjoy having you for a pretend one.
We saw a documentary about your country on TV.
Sometimes your people talk so fast they sound
like monkeys. I am glad you used the money
we sent to buy yourself something. I couldn’t
read the handwriting. Did you buy
a COAT or a GOAT? I am so sorry
your brother’s cow died. Perhaps next time
you will have one that will be healthy,
and you can enjoy it. My aunt went to heaven
a few months ago, and last week we went
to visit the rest of our family for Thanksgiving,
and to eat much of a big turkey. Do you celebrate
Thanksgiving in your country? I guess
you probably don’t. We celebrated in Florida.
Do you know where the state of Florida
is on the map? I’ll give you a hint, it’s
in the United States. I have to go to work now
so that we will have more money to send you.
Remember that through our prayers for you,
you have become very special, and that Jesus
loves you even more than your own mother.
