Twilight

dusk concedes a last glimmer of light —

marsala wine spilling down a curtain of stars
as rose and indigo waves stain skyscrapers

scarred moon settles on its haunches —

    open-mouthed gargoyle pouring light onto
    city pavements, my black-eyed shoes.
